At age 12 or so, I used to cut the lawn for the Sumner Library in Christchurch - for this I supplied my own lawn mower and invoiced for two and sixpence per cut. This was my first real-world experience of providing labour (or services) in return for money.

Scaffolding
A Sketchup drawing - The virtual does not work for me unless in a video format - it walk-thru - tried other software but no joy - could not programme the camera movements so was hand/mouse controlled - did not look good - type of thing best at full scale - and has been done before - but liked the idea of stage - reference to Cornellis. The idea of exo skeleton as well - just like my preference to see a building at construction stage - particularly domestic/residential - timber framed - looks more interesting than the eventual clad result. Pretty much decided not to take this idea further despite idea to create a scaffold board walk - walkway through an artifact like Chernobyl (not my work - below)
THE LEVER
The lever controls the production line - the production line allowed/enabled objects of desire - from simple house hold items to motorcars to be made affordably - tied up with Taylorism, Fordism - the idea that an unskilled factory worker would be paid a living wage such that they could afford to purchase the objects they were making
The lever in the sense of representing this significant stage in history between the industrial revolution and present day
The addition of a clutch - FOR BIG HANDS - appealing - division of labour - how unsatisfying that must have been.

In a cone V =1/3 pi rad squared x height
So to fit on a sheet, rad = 0.3m(600mm diam)
Therefore height = 425mm
OR
Spread over the entire sheet to an ave thickness of 15mm
Place that volume/weight of coal on sheet of steel - on floor - yahoo - done the calc but just not all that interesting - even if a little telling - could this be extended ie volume of CO2 produced perhaps - show this as a rectangular cubic structure above sheet of steel (and coal) - but like the reference to Kounellis

As a reference to the age of production-line manufacturing - hand tools that appear to have once been useful - designed to assist with specific tasks on a production line - but for what - liked this idea initially but not sure it stacks up or is meaningful to me - liked the idea of artifact - came from the future artifact idea - not sure it will convey an idea successfully -
